Perfect location for your Summer Family Photography in Bloomington-Normal

Golden Hour is the last hour before sunset and the first hour after sunrise. At no time of the day is the light warmer and more beautiful. The angle of the sun hits the atmosphere just right. The water and dust just above the horizon line soften and scatter the blue and violet rays. The result is a warm and visually dimensional glow.  Photographers are natural lovers of light and for us this time of day is just everything we could possibly wish for. But even if you are not a photographer you have probably notice that the light during Golden Hour transforms and infuses everything around you and creates awe-inspiring works of art.

And nothing complements the light of Golden Hour like the Prairie landscape in the Midwest. If you read the my favourite things section on the Meet me Page then you know that I am in love with the flat land, the people and yes, the four seasons here in Illinois! In the Midwest during the summer time there is nothing quite like the interaction of Golden Hour light and the warm yellows and greens of the grasses. And don’t even get me started on all the beautiful wildflowers – like Coneflowers, Milkweed, Asters, Brown-eyed Susan, etc.

Have look at the images below and tell me you are not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling. You can literally feel the warmth of the  sunlight and maybe a light breeze which ever so slightly moves the long grass. Let’s take a stroll through the grass with your hands touching it ever so slightly or sit on a blanket with your loved ones simply enjoying their presence and listening to what has moved them today.

The location in the pictures above is right here in Bloomington. It is the perfect background for your next family, kids, senior, couple or pet portraits. Parking is conveniently close and there won’t be too much walking involved which lets us focus on the important things, you and your loved ones. Kids and pets can run around safely and we can capture some of their free spirit as they run through the field and climb the fence. Feel free to bring some books so we can capture story time sitting on a blanket or how about a picnic for you and your sweetheart.

To catch the light just right I would suggest a session between 5/5.30 am (if you are an early riser) or 7.30/8 pm right now. If you are interested in a Summer photo session fill out the form on the contact page or send me an email by hitting the bottom below.
