Your session is designed to feel comfortable, welcoming, and genuinely fun — a place where everyone belongs, just as they are. Every shape, every shade, every kind of love is celebrated here.
I keep little ones moving and engaged (because we all know that’s when the magic happens). Expect tickles, running, spinning, whispering secrets, and the kind of laughter that can’t be forced.

And whether your family shows up Muggle-style or fully embracing your inner superhero, princess, Jedi, wizard, or Hobbit — I’m all in. I’ll fight the lightsaber battles, explore imaginary dragon lairs, or simply walk a favorite trail at sunset.

Hi, I’m Martina (she/her) — wife, dog mom, photographer, storyteller, hobby gardener, and creative soul.
Life in our home is a little geeky, a little unconventional, and filled with imagination. I love to tame lions, ride unicorns, and I fully celebrate “Talk Like a Pirate Day” every September 19th. Around here, we believe growing up and staying playful can absolutely coexist.
I’m drawn to old things with stories to tell — weathered wood, handwritten letters, heirloom quilts, well-loved books. Maybe that’s why I care so deeply about printed photographs and tangible keepsakes. The kind your children will hold one day and say, “That was us.”
I have a soft spot for DIY projects, craft supplies, and creating experiences that feel thoughtful and intentional. Those small details? They matter to me.
I also admit to a slight obsession with dogs, especially my Newfoundland girl, Athena. If we met before you found your way here, chances are she was right by my side.
More than anything, I believe in fairy tales — not the perfect kind, but the real-life kind. The kind where love shows up daily. Where childhood is messy and magical. Where families build traditions together.
I don’t take these moments lightly. I know how quickly seasons change — and how important it is to preserve what we love while we can.

My husband is my constant. My rock. The one who steadies me, encourages me, and pushes me to grow. We met in Germany when he was stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Ramstein — and ever since, life has been one beautiful, unexpected adventure.

Along the hallway, framed images of my hometown of Schleswig, Germany, remind me where I come from. In our living room, photographs of our parents, siblings, and their families keep the people we love close, even from far away. Photobooks rest on shelves and tables, always within reach — inviting us to sit down, turn the pages, and relive the moments that once made our hearts race and still give us that warm, fuzzy feeling.

Something else
I am originally from Northern Germany and home looks much like Illinois. Flat with skies for days and lots of agriculture. I love it here. Our family made a brief excursion to North Carolina but returned because we love the land, the people and yes, the four seasons here in Illinois!

While it has been a while since we came to the US, German black bread and cheese are still one of my favourite foods. I have learned to bake my own bread and found some great local places to buy cheese and German style cold cuts as well.

I am a paper crafter and love to make my own greeting cards. I believe in sending handwritten notes and I love getting snail mail myself. If you want to see some of my paper crafts check out @ink_paper_scissors_creations on Instagram.

Whenever I am out and about scouting new locations or revisiting old ones my girl is by my site. We both enjoy this time together for different reasons but it gives us both peace of mind and lets us recharge.

From the very beginning, photography has been something we shared. Early on, we started taking pictures together, and over time it became a special way for us to connect.
